Wild Thang are proud to support BTR Road Runners who organise and stage the Medal Muddle 5K events. The event returned in April after an enforced break, which took place on the Wirral in Hoylake.
This year round, the profits from the event on the 23rd of April went towards the Ukrainian Emergency Appeal.
If you did not already know, BTR Road Runners found that there were always surplus t-shirts and medals at the end of races. These would then accumulate and either be thrown out or donated to good causes. Now these surplus items are repurposed, rebranded and then presented to all those that take part in the race.
Not only are the events raising funds for great causes, but also the idea behind the Medal Muddle 5K is truly a great tackle on sustainability and resource management within the race category.
How could Team Wild Thang not want to get involved?

Wild Thang make an investment of £120K to further enhance their current DTG printing machinery and ensure they continue to strive to deliver world class products and quality to their amazing clients across the UK, and the rest of the world.
Andrew Dwerryhouse, Wild Thang MD commented: 'Even in these incredibly challenging COVID times it is important to look ahead and continue to make important investments like this that will help us deliver our long term aspirational growth plans.
Even in times of economic uncertainly its incredibly important to have that dynamic and continuous improvement mindset because we understand if you are standing still and not adapting then the writing may already be on the wall for any company.
We decided as a team in order to survive and thrive as a company that we needed to continue to invest for the future. As a company we have a one solution mindset so this really compliments Direct To Garment equipment we already have in place but increases our capacity to a much more industrial level with the very latest high quality branding technology which of course will complement our large screen-print, embroidery and heat transfer departments.
Our amazing team undertook three days of training during the installation so have further enhanced their expert DTG knowledge and we are especially excited about the GTX machines environmental credentials with printer inks are manufactured according to Brother's exclusive formulation to provide the best possible results. These DTG inks are amongst the first to not only carry the Oeko-Tex® Certification, but also to be GOTS APPROVED and CPSIA compliant* to help ensure they are safe for printing and environmentally responsible.
For those who don’t know DTG printing it stands for Direct To Garment which is the process of using a modified industrial inkjet printer to apply digital designs directly to garment, it can print any number of colours to an incredibly high resolution meaning there are no longer any boundaries to create incredibly complex designs on short runs. This is the chosen method for on demand where we produce garments as one off or small orders as they are received which is incredibly flexible. We see markets changing and have demand for people to create partnerships where they don’t want to outlay big amounts in either stock or setups so this really opens another set of doors to give our clients yet another possible solution to their branding requirements.
We decided that we wanted to make the first job off the new DTG equipment a special one so we decided to support our friends over at MaxMade who will be taking part in a social distance Santa Dash in memory of Emily Jane Gore, Emily sadly passed away earlier in the year. Their team raised an incredible £5,329 with all proceeds being donated to Willowbrook Hospice. We hope you like our little video montage & photo's to celebrate this significant DTG investment and also to help promote the great fundraising initiative MaxMade are supporting.
After an incredibly difficult year with the impact of Covid we are now focused on Wild Thang looking to 2021 with great ambition and combined with the upcoming completion of our new development we believe the sky really is the limit for dynamic sales growth."

Well this is a remarkable achievement and it’s not every day we get to work on merchandise for such a major sporting event in the world of Rugby. The world loves the underdog and some had already written off the Red Devils as being a none contender at the beginning of the season, how wrong could they be, which in some ways makes it even sweeter for the club, players and the amazing fans.
Wild Thang Director John Howarth, who helps look after the clubs requirements, commented: “There is so much to celebrate, what a year, what a club! Massive congrats from the whole Wild Thang Team on making it to the Grand Final but also to Jacko Hastings on winning the Man of Steel at the Super League Awards this week too, the guy has deserves everything that comes his way and we are excited for next season already!”
One more to go to make your dreams come true but win or lose there is so much to be proud of for all involved, Wild Thang are proud to have been played our small part as official merchandise and team kit branding partner, we are now looking forward to creating some Limited Edition Grand Final Merchandise which will be available soon on the online shop and also at the Salgood club shop at the stadium.
Wild Thang are proud to support BTR Road Runners who organized their first Medal Muddle 5K, which is a community running event, raising £800 for the RNLI whilst welcoming new runners of all abilities and having a positive environmental impact.
Wild Thang Managing Director Andrew Dwerryhouse commented: “When we were first told about the Medal Muddle concept we were so impressed and said straight away that Wild Thang definitely wanted to be involved somehow to support this unique community led 5K series of race events. We have been a supplier to BTR for many years so know the collaboration and partnership can make a real difference so we are genuinely proud to have got involved from the very beginning. As a company it ticked a number of areas from a CSR point of view, supporting a community volunteer led running club and raising much needed money for local charities. But in turn upcycling products to minimise waste. With sustainability being central to our ISO 14001 environmental certification it was a perfect fit to give those t-shirts and medals a new lease of life, making sure they did not get muddled up into having a negative environmental impact”
BTR Race Director Alan Rothwell commented: “We’re delighted to donate past race event medals and T-shirts as part of our commitment to going green and doing our bit for the environment. BTR Road Runners are delighted to have the support of our long running supplier, Wild Thang, it’s fantastic they are involved in this new and innovative initiative which also meets their sustainability standards.”
The next race is taking place on the 28th September 2019 with funds raised this time going to Pawprints Wildlife Rescue Charity.

Andrew Dwerryhouse, MD at Wild Thang commented: “Wild Thang are proud to have made this donation and are sure every little counts, It’s this time of year that our thoughts turn to those most in need when the weather takes a turn for the worse for vulnerable homeless people, especially when having to deal with freezing temperatures. That’s exactly why we donated a sizable amount of clothing including jackets, hoodies and hats to the Cotton Street Homeless Project and Whitechapel Homeless Centre which will hopefully keep a number of people safe and warm this winter. As part of the companies charitable fundraising the staff Christmas Jumper day held prior to the festive break raised over £200 which will be split between these two great organisations. We encourage others to get involved as the more people/companies/organisations involved in trying to make an impact the better the outcome will be, which is ultimately all focused on trying to eradicate homelessness in the Liverpool City Region for good.”
