Wild Thang wanted to make a difference in the fight against Covid-19!
Wild Thang wanted to make a difference in the fight against Covid-19!

As a company we have followed all the government guidelines to promote best practice for anything related to covid-19 and the corona virus so we can help protect the most vulnerable, it’s been one of the toughest times in our 24 year history.

We wanted to do more and make a difference which started by creating social distancing t-shirts as our last job for our amazing team, this was to raise awareness of social distancing before some of the team started to work remotely from home. The feedback from our friends and family was awesome and they loved the design, but still we wanted to do more.

Recently we have delivered a large consignment of clothing - 28 large bags of t-shirts, hoodies and bottoms to be precise, over to Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, this was after hearing they were in desperate need of clothing for frontline staff working tirelessly for the patients with covid-19, this was an attempt to reduce infection when they to travel to and from work in their own clothes before changing into their uniforms/scrubs once inside the building, after this we donated branded tote bags to the guys at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Currently taking pride of place at WT HQ is a banner with our support message to all the key workers during this difficult time.

We have a saying here - ‘It’s the Wild Thang Way’, so we wanted to do more.

The staff social distancing t-shirts and garments we donated got us all thinking how else can we make a difference and that’s when we came up with another idea, so all those NHS heroes really know they will never walk alone, and we can continue to raise awareness/make a difference in the fight against Covid-19, one t-shirt at a time!

Our creative team designed a range of limited edition t-shirts with a simple concept, if someone purchases a t-shirt to show their appreciation to those NHS heroes Wild Thang will either donate 50% of the purchase price to NHS charities Charity No 1186569 or send a t-shirt to the NHS frontline staff, because we knew first-hand they urgently need extra clothing.

We then shared our idea on social media and the feedback was amazing, lots of people thought it was an awesome idea and loved the designs. So the next step was to shortlist the most popular designs and create a web shop, they will be available to purchase soon, we will share the news via our social media channels when they go live!

Like many businesses in the UK it’s a worrying time our, sales have understandably slowed down considerably since lockdown so initiatives like this even in a small way will also help Wild Thang to reintroduce staff as the UK starts to return to normality, we cannot wait to be back up to full strength and doing what we do best, which as a company is to try and make a difference to those around us, it’s part of our ethos, and as we say ‘It’s the Wild Thang Way!’

For now, stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.

Our sales and creative teams are currently working from home! …however our UK production facility is temporarily closed until Tuesday 14th April

Following Mondays announcement from the Prime Minister, Wild Thang have made the decision to temporarily close our UK Production and Warehouse facility until Tuesday 14th April, as per government guidelines, even though we plan to reopen thereafter please be aware that may change with any new advice that is forthcoming.

This will be the first time in our 24 years in business we have had to take such action, but we have been closely monitoring Government guidance over the past few days, and feel the priority is the wellbeing of our employees, clients, suppliers and of course the impact our actions have on the rest of the country.

It’s not all bad news though, we will have key staff working remotely from home to assist with quotes, orders and projects for any creative branded clothing, merchandise and print enquiries, or to answer any questions you may have. But not only that, we also have our incredibly talented graphics team to help realise any campaign or branding vision you have.
What will happen to your orders? Any existing or new orders will be completed and dispatched on our return, please kindly note that we cannot commit to a delivery date at this moment in time given the new government guidelines, however we will be in touch by Tuesday 14th April with an update on the current situation and hope by this point we can give a more accurate update.

You can keep in touch through our normal sales and accounts emails, social media and phone.

Wild Thang Important Update Corona Virus (COVID 19)
Wild Thang Important Update Corona Virus (COVID 19)

Following recent developments and the continuing risks presented by Covid-19 we would like to address some points for you, our loyal clients and suppliers. We are following all government/NHS advice and following the updates very carefully.

At this moment in time we have not had any staff directly affected or showing symptoms, however we suspect this may change over the coming days and weeks, if so any staff member will self-isolate immediately.

We have given clear guidelines to all our staff and suppliers which include posters throughout our premises giving the best current advice.

We are running additional cleaning and sanitising rotas of our office space and production facility to keep our hygiene levels to the maximum, all staff are briefed and onside with making this happen, alongside our external cleaning contractors who, as usual, are on site cleaning daily.

As a company we are doing all we can to limit the impact on our office and production operations, and at this moment in time we are still operating at full capacity, however this may change in the near future so we will be sure to update if and when it does. Our sales and admin teams have the capability of home working when the need arrives to keep ‘business as usual’ as much as practically possible with IT resources already in place for this to happen.

We are in a fortunate position as a business that a lot of our production team are cross trained in all processes from embroidery to screen print and everything in between, so should we have staff who need to self-isolate we are confident we will still have capacity.

Finally, we have a strong balance sheet and have started to model the financial impacts, we have a clear business continuity plan so that we can successfully navigate this period of uncertainty.

Lets work together as a community to limit the impact its having on our businesses and daily lives and follow the government/NHS advice very carefully.

If you have any questions or queries regarding this statement please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emails sales@wildthang.co.uk

We hope you, your business and your families stay safe and sound.

Best regards

It was a happy Valentine’s Day for Wild Thang
It was a happy Valentine’s Day for Wild Thang

It was a happy Valentine’s Day for Wild Thang.

As the completion of its major development plan and a new era with the handover of its upgraded headquarters, that dream started to become a reality on Valentine’s Day when Frank Rogers Building Contractors officially handed over the new build offices of the development.

Andrew Dwerryhouse said: “This represents a major step forward for the business and it is amazing to see this investment start to come to fruition. When you embark on a development on this scale, you take a deep breath. It’s a huge commitment in time, planning and of course monetary terms - but when you see it start to become reality, you know it is the correct decision.

We wanted to make sure we brought the right people in on this project. Myself, the Directors and our senior team care a great deal about this business so it had to be right for everyone, it’s fantastic to be able to report that all staff are already benefitting from the amazing new spaces. Central to the whole development was always to create a wonderful high quality working environment for our amazing colleagues and the really big news is that I actually had my first lunch break away from my desk in 24 years, which is quite a revelation!

Both Frank Rogers and the architects at K2 have not let us down.

They have delivered a genuinely high quality job so far, especially with the added complexity of it being undertaken while we continue to manufacture. Our eye can’t be taken off the ball just yet because we still need to complete the demolition of our old building to create the new cladding and windows around the rest of the outside and also create a completely new production configuration which is a big task in itself. The full completion of the entire development is looking like it will be towards the end of April 2020.

It has been an intense and challenging few months for the whole team working alongside the development while it progresses and something like this only happens through that real team ethos in every area of the business. Overseeing this project and continuing to make sure the day-to-day work of Wild Thang isn’t compromised has been a huge logistical challenge. Our team has worked brilliantly to ensure it has been business as usual.

Although Friday 14th February was the official handover for the project there are still some jobs that need to be completed. Another firm, Box Clever, has also been integral to the process, taking Wild Thang through the tender process and acting as the development project manager.

As a company we have enjoyed growth of around 18-20% for the past three years and are aiming for further 20-25% growth following completion of the project. The transformation of the headquarters will allow the business to significantly increase manufacturing capacity and will require a rise in headcount to meet our aspiration to be one of the leading branded clothing, merchandise and print companies inthe UK.

We are now the biggest company in this sector in the Liverpool city region and we see huge opportunities for growth in the coming months and years. This project has been three years in the planning and seeing it finally come to fruition is incredibly exciting for us all. In fact I can safely say there may have never been a more exciting time, because this is one of the biggest moments in Wild Thang’s history.”

URGENT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS IT AFFECTS CLIENTS OF WILD THANG

Wild Thang’s old reception entrance will close as of 4.30pm Friday 14th February and new development reception office will open at 8.30am on Monday the 17th of February.

Above photograph shows old WIld Thang reception to the right and new reception to the left with access now off Bedford Place as highlighted in below diagram below.

This is an important moment for the project but we are still under development and have some quite substantial works before completing our exciting new build in full, which includes the demolition of our old office building and internal reconfiguration. This combined with the current road works taking place along Derby Road, the A565, are creating some real access problems to Wild Thang with no customer parking on site and minimal access currently for picking up larger orders, we are delivering all orders where possible to minimize the disruption to our wonderful clients. We are therefore advising that if you are visiting Wild Thang or picking up a small order then you will be better finding parking on the surrounding roads of our premises, they include Dacre Street, Ensor Street and Lodwick St, you will also have to follow diversions that are currently in place because of the road works.

We apologise in advance for any short term inconvenience that the development may create for our clients but in the long term we will be much improved to deliver the World Class product services that you have come to expect from us.

We want you to know that we genuinely appreciate all of the business that you have sent Wild Thang's way over the years and you are all an incredibly important part of Wild Thang’s story, past, present and future!

We will do our upmost to keep you informed as the project progresses but if you have any questions, queries or concerns over any of the points raised in this correspondence please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the senior team.

See link to Google Maps so you can understand the roads mentioned and the surrounding area.

LOOKING BACK ON A 'WILD' 2019
LOOKING BACK ON A 'WILD' 2019

It’s been one of the most exciting and challenging years in Wild Thang’s 23 years in business and we are more excited than ever to get our exciting redevelopment completed so we can really do our Thang and shoot for the stars!

You may know us for just printing t-shirts, or just supplying branded pens, but hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised about what we have been up to over the past 12 months and get a much better understanding of the truly extensive range of world class products and services we provide.

It’s been a Wild 2019

January was an incredibly exciting moment, after 4 years of hard work and preparation we were finally granted planning permission to redevelop the premises.

February and our development was competitively tendered and we were chuffed that local Liverpool company Frank Rogers were successful to create a trio of local companies involved in our exciting new development.

March gave us the opportunity to produce the official merchandise for the Liver Building 360 tour, Liverpool’s newest and most innovative attraction!

April was immense, whilst we attended the World Famous Grand National at Aintree Racecourse we spotted the playing cards we had produced for the Jockey Club in the hospitality lounges.

May was the month that we finally broke ground on the development, a momentous moment for sure, it was fantastic, and with much relief to finally get the build underway.

June allowed us to put the final touches to Liverpool Football Clubs 1st team player’s jerseys and training kit with the embroidery to commemorate the Champions League Final in Madrid, we are proud to be an official branding partner for one of the greatest football clubs in the world.

July and the development is making exciting progress with the steel frame and cladding being completed, so really starting to become a reality that all the effort and planning made with the very talented K2 Architects, to create a development that had integrity to add something dynamic to the city scape was finally paying off.

August, wow we are very proud to be voted as one of the top merchandise and corporate gift distributors in the UK, and the only representative based in the Liverpool City Region for 2018.

September seen the launch of the medal muddle initiative with our friends at BTR. CSR is at the heart of Wild Thang as a company, so we were proud to make an effort to not only help raise much needed money for local charities, but in turn upcycling products to minimise waste.

October and Salford Red Devils reach the Rugby League Grand Final at Old Trafford, against all the odds, we were incredibly proud and privileged to be part of their journey this year as their Official Branding, Merchandise and Retail Partner following the commencement of a 3 year deal with our friends at Kappa UK.

November - I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! In every jungle there has to be a Wild Thang and that just happened to be us! Producing the Official Merchandise for one of the biggest programs on TV.

December and its time to have yourself a merry eco Christmas. This year we wanted to highlight a number of innovative products that are all about sustainability, reusability and recyclability, which included a straw for life, collapsible reusable coffee cup and a draw string tote bag, made in part of recycled cotton blend and plastic bottles! If you has been a good boy or girl this year you may even receive one of our Wild Thang branded, eco orientated, corporate merchandise gifts!

Topping off an incredible 2019, and something huge for us to celebrate is our new building officially becoming water tight, so we can starting planning the interior design, new office layouts and the official launch in March, so watch this space...

We have come a long way since that £1500 Princes Trust loan 23 years ago, so we are more excited about the future than ever before and what we can achieve as a team in 2020. When the team works the dream works, so we would like to wholeheartedly thank and wish all of our amazing team, clients and friends a very merry and Wild Christmas, this New Year don’t worry about a Thang, so we can make it a very prosperous 2020 together.

We are always here to help with branded clothing, merchandise and print advice!

WILD THANG ANNOUNCE MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT OF PREMISES TO TAKE BUSINESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL !
WILD THANG ANNOUNCE MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT OF PREMISES TO TAKE BUSINESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL !

Branded clothing, merchandise and print experts Wild Thang Limited want to take things to the next level by creating an inspiring new office space, reconfiguring there production facility & investing in new machinery so they can continue to deliver world class service and help companies stand out from the crowd.

Andrew Dwerryhouse, Wild Thang MD, commented: “This is a big moment in the company’s history, maybe even the biggest moment ever, so we are incredibly excited to announce the major redevelopment of our premises & production over approximately the next 4 months. We have already made positive progress with ground work happening over the last 3 months with the help of a fantastic development team. It’s a long process to bring a development to fruition and you need the right team around you to deliver on this sort of scale & of course the whole journey has not been without its challenges given the complexity of the redevelopment being completed while we continue to do business day to day .

Our redevelopment & continued growth plan has in part been brought about by the council’s Better Roads programme to improve connectivity, of which the A565 Derby Road/Great Howard Street forms part. We as a company welcome the programme’s rationale to promote economic growth and regeneration, particularly here in north Liverpool. We’re confident that our redevelopment and projected future growth will be just one example of the effectiveness of improving the city’s road network, particularly along major gateways to create future prosperity for the Liverpool City Region. We started the process over 3 years ago by finding the right Architects, after talking to a number of local companies we felt that K2 Architects were a great fit for what we wanted to achieve with a good track record.

They have been with us on the journey right from the start and have guided us through the complex design process of planning to get the best possible final result. We have been really pleased and impressed with what they have delivered from concept to reality. K2 Architects have a strong creative team and have really taken the time to understand what we wanted to achieve and how our business functions at every level.

As a company we really know the importance of creating the right team internally, having seen 18%+ growth for each of the last 3 years we now want to take things to the next level so have the aspiration as a team to break into the elite top 1% of companies in our industry, aiming for 20%+ growth in the next 2 years after the development is completed. Things have really never looked more positive for Wild Thang and we are now Liverpool City Region’s biggest supplier in our sector, even after 23 years in business we are more excited than ever about the future opportunities for the company and its employees.

We genuinely believe the completed development will deliver a world class environment for our clients and colleagues that will allow us to take the business to the next World Class level which will hopefully lead to increasing our staff levels locally by approximately 25% over the next 2-3 year. The completion and launch date will be announced soon so keep your eyes peeled for further progress and exciting updates.”

Chris Dwerryhouse, Wild Thang Director commented: “It’s very exciting times at Wild Thang and having been personally overseeing the tender process what has been the most pleasing aspect of getting the development to this point is that we have managed to keep as many links to Liverpool City Region as possible, it was competitively tendered and we were over the moon when local company Frank Rogers Building Contractors were the successful candidate to win the contract. We know that Franks Rogers are a very well established local company with a reputation of delivering high quality developments and so far they are making good progress and we are confident their quality will be equal to their great reputation.

Two final pieces of the jigsaw are firstly Box Clever, who again had to be exactly the right fit, they have now taken us through the tender process and will be helping us deliver the development scheme as project managers until final handover, their advice and expertise to date has been truly invaluable. Finally our bankers Natwest have also supported us throughout the journey of the development and we are thankful for their ongoing financial support. The investment in the development of the premises, new machinery and infrastructure will be circa £2m+ over the next 12-18 months so we can truly realize our growth potential as a company. “

Dean Rogers, Frank Rogers MD “As a Liverpool firm, it’s always great to work with other pioneering local firms who are helping put the city region on the map nationally. Wild Thang is undoubtedly making waves within its sector and now, and with these new extended and upgraded facilities, they now have the space and scope to further grow and expand.”

Mark Davies, K2 Architects commented: “The new building at 331-337 Derby Road will serve as a precedent for high quality industrial design in the area and a reminder to others that industrial buildings can be colorful, compelling and engaging. The intervention aims to promote general wellbeing through sensitive, exemplary design and enhance the building’s internal/external functional operation. It works alongside Liverpool City Council’s upgrade of Derby Road; to propel the area into the next generation of smart infrastructure.”
