This year marks a special date for the royal family, the nation and especially for Her Majesty the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning British monarch in history and therefore this is the first time that any British monarch has celebrated a Platinum Jubilee. At 96 years old, she is also the oldest monarch in world history. This is a celebration of seventy years of service since the Queen was first crowned as the monarch of the United Kingdom at twenty-five years old.

Events have already been taking place throughout the year, but the main event will take place in the form of the bank holiday weekend at the start of June. This gives us all a chance to wave our flags, pop the bunting up and celebrate this historic event.

BBC MERSEYSIDE RADIO'S HENRY LISTON PAID WILD THANG A VISIT

Wild Thang HQ had a special visit from a reporter from BBC Radio Merseyside this week, Henry Liston. He came to talk to Andy and Jade about all ‘thangs’ The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Henry was great fun so we had to lay down the Royal red carpet and give him the full 5 star experience taking him on the exclusive Wild Thang tour and of course, we could not let him leave empty-handed.

We took him behind the scenes with our screen print expert Graham, who printed some Platinum Jubilee t-shirts to take back with him to studio.

WILD THANG'S ROYAL CELEBRATIONS ON THE ROOFTOP

We had our own Wild Thang Jubilee celebrations on our rooftop, the sun was shining and it was just a great excuse to get all the team together. A huge thank you to Carrie for organising the activities for the day and our royally approved lunch and drinks.

ALL DONATIONS AND MONEY RAISED WENT TO THE JOHN HAYNES FOUNDATION

Wild Thang used the day to fundraise money for The John Haynes Foundation, a foundation held very close to all our hearts. Overall with sales of the Wild Thang Jubilee branded cotton shoppers, and donations we generated a whopping £400.

On the 22nd April it was World Earth Day, which this year is themed around investing in our planet. The video gives a unique insight into both the real challenges but also how Wild Thang would like the government to help businesses, ending on a positive note about our growth plans for the future which may have had some influence on their nomination as a finalist for the Chamber International Award!

Andrew Dwerryhouse Wild Thang MD was interviewed for the showcase and the whole team are incredibly proud to represent the manufacturing sector. Describing how we have navigated through what can only be described as the perfect storm through the Brexit challenges to not only survive but adapt and thrive, we hope that this can inspire other companies to do the same. A big thank you to our friends Tarways Asphalte who have completed a great job resurfacing our car park and goods in areas, these have now been marked up with our disabled and electric charging bays.

Benson Signs have also been back on site to fit high level signage to our Derby Road elevation, showing the world what we’re all about! It’s been a very tough journey with development and COVID disruption, but we’re edging closer to final development completion.

Who said manufacturing premises had to be boring or run of the mill, we are really proud to have had the aspiration to create something world class with the help of Liverpool based K2 Architects & Frank Rogers Building Contractor Limited.

Its hopefully not long now as we literally can’t wait to be able to invite you guys & gals to our grand unveiling when it’s safe to do so!
