Wild Thang supports Strawberry Field Mount Toubkal Trek
Wild Thang supports Strawberry Field Mount Toubkal Trek

Wild Thang are very proud to announce our support towards the iconic site, Strawberry Field.

The tourist attraction is owned by the Salvation Army, which they use the profits from the visitor experience to keep the gates open permanently and to support Steps at Strawberry Field, a set of initiatives for people with disabilities or other employment challenges. Of course, this is such a fantastic cause, and we are very happy that we can help.

STRAWBERRY FIELD

In September 2019, Strawberry Field, the famous location immortalised by John Lennon in the Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever," first welcomed visitors via its recognisable red gates.

Through their exhibition, you can learn about the history of the iconic site; including stories from the former children’s home and about how John came to write the famous song. The site now serves a unique addition to Beatles tourism.

The site holds an interactive visitor exhibition, a café, a shop, and quiet garden places for spiritual reflection.

Entry to the cafe, shop and gardens is free. If you would like to purchase tickets to their visitor experience, they can be booked in advance by following the link at the bottom of our page.

THE WORK OF STRAWBERRY FIELD

The site is home to Steps to Work programme for young adults with learning challenges and other hurdles to employment.

All proceeds from the exhibition, café and shop go towards supporting the Steps at Strawberry Field programmes, which cater to those who face obstacles to employment such as learning disabilities. There is more information if you follow the link at the bottom of the page.

WILD THANG SUPPORTS STRAWBERRY FIELD MOUNT TOUBKAL TREK

We are proud to announce that we will be donating branded hoodies for their Mount Toubkal Trek on the 3rd – 7th August 2022 free of charge. Lesley from Strawberry Field came for the full Wild Thang tour and we were able to hear about all the amazing work Strawberry Field do. Lesley had actually been completing her regular training in line for the trek taking place in August that morning, this team means business!

They are aiming to raise £2500 each for the Strawberry Field’s Step to Work Programme.

It costs £10,000 for one trainee to go through the Steps to Work programme; and with all of your support, the fantastic team at Strawberry Field can continue the work they do to help more and more people achieve their dreams of paid employment.

MOUNT TOUBKAL

This once in a lifetime adventure will allow the trekkers to take on the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and summit its highest peak - Mount Toubkal.

All of us at Wild Thang wish the team good luck on their fundraising and the trek they will be completing in August.

Wild Thang Branding Geek The Polo Shirt a very very short history!
Wild Thang Branding Geek The Polo Shirt a very very short history!

We love sharing random and interesting facts about products we supply. This week we are focusing on the garment that everyone probably has in their wardrobe. Did you know that history states the original sport of Polo originated in India and was then taken up in England by returning soldiers. The Polo playing shirt used to be a long sleeved shirt & was the first collared garment to have a buttoned-down collar, which polo players invented in the late 19th century to keep their collars from flapping in the wind. Brooks Brothers's early president, John Brooks, noticed this while at a polo match in England and began producing such a shirt in 1896.

They have obviously since lost their button down collar & gained a buttoned placket but none of their popularity as a sports and casual leisure or uniform garment essential with Ralph Lauren’s iconic polo shirt probably taking the top spot in popularity, linking the original history with its modern day equivalent. Finally when it comes to the important logo or brand aspect did you know the reason why branding is virtually always on the left chest of a garment? It’s so when people shake hands the #branding is still on show, because if it was on the right side it would be hidden. It’s also great that this sport has opened up the doors to every gender so we thought we would feature some younger female polo players that are just as tough as their male counterparts.

We have a great range of polo shirts both female and male available in many different qualities, styles, material and sizes, all of which can be printed or embroidered. Please remember we are here to help with expert branded clothing merchandise and print advice. Why not take a quick look at just a few we have available.

Wild Thang Branding Geek it could be bags of fun!
Wild Thang Branding Geek it could be bags of fun!

We just love living up to our nickname of a branding geek & have literally got bags of merchandise! Inspired by the fact that shopping like it or not is a big part of the Christmas festive season, did you know American and European patent applications relating to the production of plastic shopping bags can be found dating back to the early 1950s, but these refer to composite construction with handles fixed to the bag in a secondary manufacturing process.

The modern lightweight shopping bag is the invention of Swedish engineer Sten Gustaf Thulin. In the early 1960s, branded bags have come a long way since then with literally 1000’s of variations from a simple shopper to an executive leather laptop bag. Since the introduction of the 5p bag tax it would seem that bags for life and trendy cotton shoppers are the way forward when it comes to making a positive environmental impact which we all have a responsibility to take very seriously.

Statistics show variations of printed & embroidered bags are currently the most searched and purchased promotional merchandise products. If you would like to receive the 50 most searched promotional and corporate merchandise products just drop Wild Thang an email request. Please remember we are here to help with expert creative branded clothing merchandise and print advice. So why not take a look at the extensive range and literally bag yourself a bargain.

Wild Thang Branding Geek return of the Mac !

We love bringing you random #BrandingGeek facts & information about products we sell. Well it’s raining outside and the temperature is starting to fall, so I thought we would give a nod to the good ole raincoat jacket. Did you know in 1823, Scotsman Charles MacIntosh was granted a patent on the first 'waterproof' fabric. It was made by squeezing liquid rubber in between two pieces of fabric, then pressing them together. Prior to this people could only keep themselves dry by wearing oiled fabrics like cotton. They were heavy and water repellent but smelt pretty bad.

This first range had it's unique problems though - when the weather heated up, the rubber would become sticky, and when it got cold it became too stiff. The 1839 invention of Vulcanization by Charles Goodyear (of the tyres fame) changed the game. Vulcanized rubber tested temperature changes, and made

'Mackintosh' Coats a perfect rainwear solution.Initially, it had success for horse riders, then became adopted for use in the British Army & then pretty much the rest of the globe.  Thanks to Mr Charles MacIntosh for your creativity. All regions with inclement weather & of course the many seafarers are forever in your debt. #WHOINVENTEDTHEWATERPROOFCOAT Remember we are here to help with expert branded clothing advice to suit any weather conditions this planet has to throw at you so why not take a look at just a few of the jackets we have available
