Happy St Patrick’s Day to all those celebrating but especially to our Irish colleagues, clients, suppliers, family and friends over on the Emerald Isle!

Given that St Patrick’s day is very nearly upon us it had to be this week’s merchandise in action. St Paddy’s revellers really know how to have a good time and a little bit of branded merchandise seems to be part and parcel of celebrating everything Irish and everything green.

I am quite fond of the black stuff so here are a few interesting facts for you, did you know it’s estimated that 13 million pints of Guinness will be consumed worldwide on St. Patrick's Day & Guinness has been enjoyed at every St. Patrick’s Day since Arthur Guinness set up his brewery in 1759 so we say have fun, drink sensibly and know your limits.

We love this photo of the revellers which I think is really capturing the spirit and fun of one of the biggest days certainly in the Irish calendar. Our very own merchandise in action was on show on Sunday 10th February on and off the pitch with our pop up shop at the AJ Bell Stadium for the first in a series of games we will be attending throughout the season which will extend our 24/7 web shop solution to the fans on match day. It was certainly a cold and breezy one with that wind whipping in from the Manchester Ship Canal! It was great to meet so many fans who loved the merchandise with the big sellers on the day being the new Kappa 2019 home and away replica shirts, the Kappa player polo and the retro bobble hat, but top sales item on the day was the new Red Devils fan scarf, knitted to a high definition quality and an absolute must to keep that chill off you.

The lads on the pitch certainly went hard & did their best to keep the fans warm making it 2 W’s from 2 games and currently sitting top of Super League after a 24-0 victory over London Broncos. We love this image of the players in action going hard & whatever the campaign or marketing promotion you should never underestimate the power of the photograph to capture the moment of any campaign & deliver real impact, think PR exposure, think the endless social media sharing or competitions on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook & Snapchat.

RED DEVILS MERCH

At Wild Thang we love all things big, huge, massive related to products we sell. The sudden drop in temperature has given us a little inspiration this week. Check out the world’s largest knitted hat, measuring 6.90 m (22 ft 7 in) in height and 15.05 m (49 ft 4 in) in circumference. Created by volunteers from all over Europe, the hat was assembled and presented in Puchheim, Germany, on Oct. 5 2008, after 3,000 work hours.

 It’s also a reminder to make sure you are wearing something warm when temperatures fall.
