So I just had to share this great achievement by a school in Northampton who secured its places in the record books.

More than 1,500 pupils at Abbeyfield School flooded onto the playground to set a new world record for the number of high visibility vests worn in one place. We love it when awareness is raised around what is a genuine safety issue that faces all school kids & adults at winter time. "Lest we forget" We just love it when big organisations and premier football teamssupport the Thank You 100 Poppy Appeal & British Legion. This just had to be my merchandise in action this week, it is really great to see football & in this case Everton FC supporting such an incredibly important commemoration year and charity. The branded football shirts, jerseys & banner really does capture the moment & tell the story.

We love bringing you random #BrandingGeek facts & information about products we sell. Well it’s raining outside and the temperature is starting to fall, so I thought we would give a nod to the good ole raincoat jacket. Did you know in 1823, Scotsman Charles MacIntosh was granted a patent on the first 'waterproof' fabric. It was made by squeezing liquid rubber in between two pieces of fabric, then pressing them together. Prior to this people could only keep themselves dry by wearing oiled fabrics like cotton. They were heavy and water repellent but smelt pretty bad.

 This first range had it's unique problems though - when the weather heated up, the rubber would become sticky, and when it got cold it became too stiff. The 1839 invention of Vulcanization by Charles Goodyear (of the tyres fame) changed the game. Vulcanized rubber tested temperature changes, and made

'Mackintosh' Coats a perfect rainwear solution.Initially, it had success for horse riders, then became adopted for use in the British Army & then pretty much the rest of the globe.  Thanks to Mr Charles MacIntosh for your creativity. At Wild Thang we love all things big, huge, massive related to products we sell. The sudden drop in temperature has given us a little inspiration this week. Check out the world’s largest knitted hat, measuring 6.90 m (22 ft 7 in) in height and 15.05 m (49 ft 4 in) in circumference. Created by volunteers from all over Europe, the hat was assembled and presented in Puchheim, Germany, on Oct. 5 2008, after 3,000 work hours.

 It’s also a reminder to make sure you are wearing something warm when temperatures fall. The brief was simple, to design & create some world class retail quality merchandise & in this case I certainly think we achieved it. Developing high impact and relevant design that really embraced Jamie’s passion on the pitch and off the pitch, placing his 23 foundation at the heart of all designs. We produced a relevant range of merchandise which included branded hoodies, t-shirts, pin badges, teddy bears, woven football scarfs, lanyards, caps, medal & wristbands. We are happy to report the project was a big success raising a significant amount of money for Jamie’s 23 foundation & created excellent social media interaction & PR publicity. Do you want to feel like Rocky? Then simply wear a hoody! Did you know hoodies, hooded tops & hooded sweatshirts have been around a lot longer than you think, documented as part of men's and women's wear for centuries. The word "hood" is said to come from the Anglo-Saxon word "hōd", the garment's style and form can be traced back to Medieval Europe when the normal clothing for monks included a hood called a cowl attached to a tunic or robes and a chaperon or hooded cape was very commonly worn by any outdoor workers. Its appearance was known in England at least as early as the 12th century, possibly an import with the Norman conquest of England. The modern day hooded sweatshirt or hoodie was born of modest origins. Champion Products, which began as the Knickerbocker Knitting Company in 1919, claims to have made the first hooded sweatshirt. Originally a sweater mill, Champion began making sweatshirts in the early 1930's once it developed methods to sew thicker underwear material. They are now a mainstay of street, sports, varsity, fashion & casual uniforms. We print many many 10,000's each year for a variety of organisations & promotions, there is a vast range of colours, styles, qualities available at Wild Thang, all of which can be embroidered or screen printed. In my opinion, the iconic use of a hoodie in the Rocky film may well have been the catalyst for the huge modern day popularity.
