Wild Thang Announce Big Commitment To Support Team Volunteering Locally And Internationally

Wild Thang is thrilled to announce an inspiring partnership with the British Irish Trading Alliance (BITA) and Mellon Educate for a life-changing initiative. We are committed to all things ESG, supporting the community, both locally and globally, we are really proud to announce as part of a new company initiative every staff member will have the chance to get involved in volunteering  in some way and we will be sending a dedicated team member to South Africa to participate in the renowned Mellon Educate Building Blitz taking place in October.

BITA President Paul Whitnell

Mellon Educate, a transformative charity, has been actively improving the lives of children in South Africa since 2002. Their mission focuses on enhancing literacy and providing employment opportunities in local communities. Their impactful work includes the construction and renovation of schools and the establishment of literacy hubs, directly benefiting over 50,000 children to date.

This year, Wild Thang is proud to collaborate with BITA, a network that champions cross-border trade and relationships between Britain and Ireland. Our participation underscores our belief in the power of community and co-operation across borders. We are sending one enthusiastic Wild Thang team member to join this noble cause, fully funded, to help build a school that will serve countless children.

We had a great deal of interest from those who wanted to participate from our team which was wonderful and incredibly proud to annouce that our volunteer this year is Beth our Business & Finance executive, who will of course be sharing her international volunteering journey with us. Beth's commitment to making a difference embodies the spirit of the ‘Wild Thang Way’ and we look forward to supporting their efforts. As the event approaches, we'll keep you updated with blog posts and live content from the ground, capturing every moment of this life-affirming experience.

Wild Thang Volunteer Beth

In 2024 and beyond, Wild Thang is dedicated to providing more opportunities for every team member to volunteer and make a positive impact. While these opportunities may not be as grand as travelling to Africa, we firmly believe if every staff member takes up an opportunity it can make a huge difference in not only the community but also their very own wellbeing. We will be working closely with our staff to offer them a day away from work to volunteer in their local communities. This underscores our commitment to fostering a culture of giving back and supporting causes that matter to our team, there is also much research that says volunteering can help your own personal journey and lead to a better physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Our international volunteer team member Beth will be documenting her journey, providing insights into the challenges and triumphs of building a school in just one week. This initiative and other volunteering opportunities will make a difference both internationally and locally but also a profound impact for all volunteers, creating a positive feel-good factor, memories and relationships that are sure to last a lifetime.

Wild Thang Team Highlighting Our Volunteer Beth & Mellon Educate Website

Comments from our volunteer Beth: "I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to be heading over to South Africa to help build a school for the children & community who are not as fortunate as we are. It breaks my heart that the children are struggling to get the education that we are fortunate to have in the UK. I believe the school build will make a huge difference in all the children’s lives to have a better & brighter future. I think it’s incredible that we can build a school to help so many children in one week, really looking forward to getting myself stuck in!"
