We’re thrilled to share the incredible story of Beth’s journey to South Africa with the British Irish Trading Alliance (BITA) and Mellon Educate for the transformative Building Blitz initiative. This life-changing project brought together a passionate group of volunteers, united by a shared mission to create brighter futures for children through education. This trip was fully funded by Wild Thang to launch the company’s wider commitment to volunteering and give an individual a once in a lifetime opportunity to genuinely make a difference in young children’s lives in a profound way internationally. |
Beth, our Business & Finance Executive, represented Wild Thang with dedication and enthusiasm throughout the trip, joining forces with an inspiring team of 426 volunteers to help construct and built 16 classrooms, 2 literacy hubs, 2 special needs classrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 toilet blocks, 5 covered shelters & 2 playgrounds in just one week. This monumental effort has opened doors to education and opportunity for countless deprived children, reflecting the heart of Mellon Educate’s mission to uplift communities. |
Volunteers Celebrating Together As A Team |

In addition to Beth’s hands-on contribution, Wild Thang supported the initiative by sending a pallet packed with 1,000 pens, colouring books, and skipping ropes. These small yet meaningful gifts brought joy and creativity to the children, aligning with our ethos of making a positive impact. Whether through physical efforts or material support, Wild Thang is proud to contribute in ways that resonate globally and locally. Such gestures reinforce our dedication to delivering world-class solutions that extend beyond business to touch lives and inspire hope wherever possible. |
Reflecting on her experience, Beth shared: “The building of the school was non-stop and could be hard going at some points but completely worth it after seeing the children & teachers faces light up when it was all complete.” She added, “It honestly was the most rewarding and life-changing experience I’ve ever done.” Beth’s perspective perfectly encapsulates the transformative power of projects like these, offering a glimpse into the emotional and tangible rewards of dedicating time and energy to help others in need. |

Beth also reflected on her favourite moments from the trip, she said it would be the handover to the children & teachers at the school, it was so emotional to see how grateful & excited they were that the school was all theirs. The children sang and danced to show their gratitude which was heartwarming. Another one of her favourite moments was when the team were cleaning the canopy, about 15 of the children decided to help, they started brushing, picking up rubbish & helping remove the weeds which showed how proud they were to keep their school clean.

This partnership with BITA and Mellon Educate is a proud moment for Wild Thang, showcasing the power of collaboration, compassion, and action. Congratulations to Beth and the entire team for their hard work and dedication it’s inspiring to see what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause, this is hopefully yet another important example of how seriously we are taking our own corporate social responsibilities by placing ESG central to Wild Thang’s company culture for the long term. |
